What is Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene / FEP?

Typically referred to as FEP, Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene is a type of fluoropolymer commonly extruded as both an insulation and jacket material for wire and cable. Additionally, FEP can be foamed as a dielectric in coaxial cables. Also know as Teflon® FEP, it is a variation of Teflon®, which was invented by DuPont™. FEP exhibits outstanding resistance to chemicals, has a wide temperature range and excellent electrical properties. Due to these physical and electrical characteristics, FEP is a popular choice for use in numerous industries, including aerospace, medical, lighting, and electronic applications. FEP is the compound of choice for high-temperature plenum environments and can be found in Galaxy’s Belden equivalent cable offerings. Another common use for FEP is as an insulation and filler material in TEC cable, used in the oil and gas industry. In military applications, FEP would be in coaxial cables such as M17/113-RG316, commonly referred to as RG316 coaxial cable.

Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene, also referred to as FEP, is a form of fluoropolymer insulation.
