VFD Cable, Variable Frequency Drive Cable for Industrial Use

Galaxy provides industrial VFD cable (Variable Frequency Drive cable) to a variety of markets that include nuclear power, off shore oil & gas, factory automation, power generation, solar and wind. Galaxy specializes in custom VFD cable.

What is Industrial VFD Cable?

Industrial VFD cables are designed to reliably carry power for variable frequency AC drive systems to control the speed and torque of electric motors. Galaxy’s VFD cable can support the high power levels of the pulse-width modulated (PWM) signals and are built for high performance and demanding applications. This includes handling high voltage spikes and eliminating potential damage to the cable, motors, bearings, drives and other related equipment. Industrial VFD cables are typically used with instrumentation, power and control devices. VFD cable can range in voltage from 300V to 35KV in a variety of jacketing materials suited for specific applications.

Industrial VFD Cable Specifications

Galaxy’s industrial VFD cables are manufactured using durable, industrial-grade XLPE insulations. This provides low capacitance for extended motor life, reduced likelihood of corona discharge, reduced magnitude of standing waves and increased efficiency of power transfer. Robust grounds and shielding systems minimize radiated and conducted noise that can disrupt plant control and instrumentation systems. Industrial-grade PVC jackets provide sunlight and oil resistance. A UL ER rating allows cable routing outside of the conduit for easier and less expensive installations.

Standards for Galaxy Industrial VFD Cable

Galaxy provides many types of industrial VFD cables. Galaxy’s Sales Engineers have successfully assisted in the design of custom industrial VFD Cables for many customers, and understand the challenges that come along with the cable selection process. No matter the environment or desired functionality of the cable, a cable can be manufactured that enables the equipment to function as intended. The standards they conform to can include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Suitable for Class I Division II Hazardous Locations
  • UL Listed as Type TC-ER per UL 1277 Tray Cables
  • UL Listed as Flexible Motor Supply Cables per UL Standard 2277
  • UL Approved for Sunlight Resistant, Direct Burial, and Oil Resistant I applications
  • Cable meets IEEE 1202 (FT-4)
  • All Materials Used in the Manufacture of this Cable are RoHS II and REACH Compliant
  • Made in the USA
