What is Foamed Perfluoroalkoxy / PFA?

Foamed Perfluoroalkoxy, also referred to as Foamed PFA, is a form of fluoropolymer insulation. The process of foaming happens when an additive is mixed with the PFA resin. Foaming provides advantages that cannot be obtained through conventional melt extrusion processes. When foaming is used, the dielectric constant decreases as the void content increases. Because of these improved attributes, foaming allows for reduced wall thickness and an overall lighter cable. Foamed PFA can be rated up to 260°C, thus making it an excellent choice for high temperature applications. Along with excellent temperature ratings, Foamed PFA has outstanding resistance to chemicals. Foamed PFA is popular in data-transmission applications and can be routed through plenum and other air handling ducts.
