Galaxy Wire and Cable, Inc. has been in business for over 27 years and is located in Horsham, PA. Over the years, Galaxy has acquired numerous certifications that have improved its business and helped earn new customers. Some of these certifications are quality oriented, such as IPC/WHMA-A-620 and ISO 9001:2015. Other certifications are based upon business classification. For example, Galaxy is classified as Small Woman Owned Business by WBENC, as well as a certified HUBZone company.
Over the past few years, Galaxy has obtained UCP DBE (Unified Certification Program for Disadvantaged Business Enterprise) in several states. Beginning with our home state of PA, Galaxy currently holds DBE certifications in California, Illinois, Texas, Idaho, and Alaska. These certifications have helped Galaxy become a stronger company from a quality management standpoint, but they have also helped customers earn contracts by partnering with Galaxy on various projects in which these certifications were crucial for the customer to win the business.
Most notably, Galaxy’s certifications with a current customer became a huge asset for both parties. The customer is a leader in the transit industry, and many of their contracts are with states and local municipalities. A certain percentage of these contracts are required to be fulfilled by companies that are registered as DBE organizations. So this customer partnered with Galaxy for their bids and Galaxy simultaneously earned the necessary certifications state by state to meet the DBE requirements. Without these certifications, the likelihood of the customer winning the contracts was very low. Because Galaxy was willing to put the time and effort into the certification process, both companies enjoyed a significant increase in business.
